Service area: where the assistant will book on-site visits
Service area
For businesses that go to the customer (cleaning, roofing, plumbing, HVAC and the other home-services trades), the Service area card on Settings is the list of places you actually drive to. When a caller says where the work is, the assistant checks that location against your list before it offers a visit, and it never books a visit outside it.
This is separate from What your AI knows: facts there let the assistant *talk* about your area; this list *decides*.
Set it up
- Open Settings and scroll to Service area.
- Enter the ZIP codes you serve, one per line or separated by commas. A ZIP+4 is fine; only the first five digits count.
- Enter the cities or towns you serve the same way. Capitalization and accents do not matter ("St. Louis" and "st louis" are the same city).
- Choose what happens when the caller's area cannot be confirmed (they gave no ZIP, or a city you did not list): by default the assistant does not book and asks for the ZIP once. Tick the box if you would rather it book anyway and let you confirm the area yourself.
- Press Save service area. The note under the button tells you whether the check is active and how many entries it holds.
Leaving the list empty turns the check off: calls behave exactly as they did before.
What the caller hears
- In your area: nothing changes; the assistant offers times as usual.
- Outside your area: the assistant says plainly that the location is outside the area you currently serve, that it cannot book a visit there, and that it will pass the request along. It takes no booking. The call notes still reach you, so you can follow up if you want to.
- Cannot tell: the assistant asks for the ZIP code once, then checks again.
Limits and honesty
- The list is the whole truth: the assistant does not use maps or distance. If a ZIP is missing from your list, callers there are treated as outside your area, so keep the list current.
- Up to 200 entries (ZIPs plus cities) per account.
- Businesses that do not book on-site visits (real estate, med spa, legal intake, dental) do not use this list on calls; the card says so.
