A visitor taps Text us on your site and the thread opens in your dashboard. Every message names your business, so the customer knows who is talking.
You pick the number on day one and we file the carrier registration the same day. While it is under review, you keep working on the shared line.
The day your line goes live, new conversations start on it. Threads already open finish where they began, and the customers you were talking to get one text telling them your new number.

- Your own number is part of signing up. When it is live, new conversations move to it, and anyone you were already texting is told once what the new number is.
- Until then, texts from people who are not yet your leads wait - a shared line cannot tell whose they are.
The shared line is shared, so new accounts start with a daily sending limit that lifts as your account is verified. If you reach it, we tell you and your messages wait — nothing is dropped.
Is the number mine?
Yes. Port a number in, port it out, and if you leave we hold it for 90 days so you can take it with you. It is never resold.

Top-ups, for genuine overflow
Purchased messages keep for 12 months and roll over; the monthly allowance does not. Your allowance is used first, then the oldest bundle.
An optional 10¢ per-message overage, OFF by default, with a maximum you set. No metered billing unless you turn it on.
A conversation is a thread with one customer within a billing period. A message counts as one message in any language, with or without accents or emoji. Picture messages are off by default; if you turn them on, each one counts as three messages toward your ceiling (US numbers only) — you see that before you switch it on.

Do I need a new number?
Yes — a registered business line of your own, picked at signup. You can port an existing business number in, and port it out again if you leave. Your personal cell stays personal.
Why does registration take days?
The carriers verify every business that sends texts from a local number, and their review usually takes one to two weeks. You file it through our system, one attempt included — or we do it for you for a one-time $299 fee. You start on our shared line meanwhile.
What happens if I go over?
Sending pauses and we tell you. Top up, or move up a bucket. If you have turned on the optional per-message overage with a maximum you set, sending continues up to that maximum instead. Nothing bills silently.
Can I keep Text if I cancel the assistant?
Yes. Your account, number, threads and history all stay. The price moves to the on-its-own figure from your next period, and you see it before you confirm.
Does Spanish cost more?
No. We count messages, not characters, so a message in Spanish, with accents or with emoji, counts exactly the same as one in English.
Is Text the same price on every FirstFiveMin plan?
Yes. Every plan pays the with-a-plan price — the smallest plan pays what the largest pays.

- Your legal business name and EIN.

A sole proprietor without an EIN can still register, with carrier-imposed limits: one number, one message per second, one campaign, and a verification text to a real mobile. - A business address.
- A website you can edit. The carriers require a privacy line about texting on it — FirstFiveMin hands you the exact sentence.
- A mobile number we can verify.
Review usually takes one to two weeks. If you don't have these yet, don't start — pull them together first and the registration goes through cleanly.

State law requires a live operator to obtain consent before an automated device may deliver an artificial-voice message, so FirstFiveMin does not AI-dial there. Your team alerts and claim windows still work normally.
