"Voicemail on a missed call"
Voicemail on a missed call
Right now, when someone calls and nobody picks up, we tell them we will text them and the call ends. There is nowhere for them to say anything.
Turn voicemail on and they get the choice: they can leave a message instead. We save the audio, put it on that person's lead, and text you that it is there.
It is off until you turn it on, because turning it on changes what your callers hear.
Turning it on
Settings → under *If I miss an inbound call* → Let callers leave a message.
What the caller hears
One line before the tone, naming your business, telling them their message is recorded. Then the tone, then they talk.
We say the recording part out loud on purpose. Several states require it, and it is the decent thing to do — nobody should discover afterwards that they were recorded.
We do not promise them a call back. We say where the message goes. What you do about it is your call, not a promise we make on your behalf.
What you get
A text as soon as the message lands: how long it is and a link. The message itself sits on the lead, with everything else that person has done.
If it is outside your working hours, this follows the same *after-hours alerts* setting as your other alerts. If you have those set to off or to a morning summary, we will not wake you — the message is still on the lead when you look.
A written version
Not yet. The audio is saved and you can listen to it; turning speech into text needs a transcription service, and we have not picked one. When we do, the writing appears under the message and nothing else changes.
Two cases where we keep nothing
They hung up at the tone. A message under two seconds is not a message. We do not keep it and we do not text you about it.
They had asked us not to record them. If that person previously told our assistant to stop recording, that decision stands. They are not offered a recording again.
How long we keep it
The same as call recordings — set by your retention window, then deleted automatically, audio and all. If that person asks you to delete their data, the voicemail goes with everything else.
